CAREC and ADB Discuss Prospects for Cooperation in Uzbekistan

Tashkent – Uzbekistan – 22 October 2025 – Representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) Office in Uzbekistan held a constructive meeting dedicated to strengthening cooperation and implementing joint initiatives.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged information about their ongoing activities. The ADB representatives expressed interest in the work of CAREC, its mandate, as well as the projects being implemented and completed in Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region.

For reference, ADB is currently developing a feasibility study for the construction of two water reservoirs — Ayokchi in the Kashkadarya region and Obizarang in the Surkhandarya region.

“We welcome ADB’s initiative and stand ready to collaborate in the field of sustainable water resources management and nature-based solutions. CAREC possesses significant experience and technical expertise that can contribute to the successful implementation of such projects,” said Nodirbek Rakhimjonov, Director of the CAREC Country Office in Uzbekistan.

He noted that the meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere, and both sides agreed to continue the dialogue and explore specific areas of collaboration in the near future.
