New Executive Director of CAREC Meets with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources

Astana – June 4, 2025 – Today, in the capital of Kazakhstan, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Nysanbayev, met with the new Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Batyr Mamedov.


The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan congratulated Mr. Batyr Mamedov on officially assuming his position and expressed confidence in the continuation and strengthening of constructive cooperation between the Ministry and CAREC.

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to a strategic partnership and further strengthening of collaboration in priority areas of sustainable environmental development both in Kazakhstan and across the Central Asian region. Particular attention was given to cooperation with key international environmental organizations and the development of joint initiatives in environmental protection, climate change, and sustainable natural resource management.

Equally important was the discussion of climate-related issues, including preparations for upcoming global and regional climate forums, the enhancement of scientific and analytical cooperation, and the development of partnerships with the Green Climate Fund at the regional level.

Mr. Batyr Mamedov’s visit to Astana marked his first official trip in his new role and emphasized the importance of collaboration with national environmental authorities as part of the regional agenda.
