The Nexus Game is an interactive simulation that helps participants understand the links between water, energy and food systems. In the game, participants are divided into two teams representing countries located upstream and downstream along a shared river. Acting as government ministers, they make decisions on how to manage water, energy and food resources while meeting the needs of their populations and working with the neighbouring country.
The session was held in Russian and Kazakh. Finalists took part in negotiations, discussed trade-offs and looked for solutions that balanced resource security with environmental protection. Many emphasised the importance of developing green technologies.
At the end of the event, representatives of UNESCO and Narxoz University thanked CAREC for organising the Nexus Game as part of the eco-festival and highlighted the value of the exercise in developing cooperation and strategic thinking among young people.
