Key topics include Peter Sandman’s Risk Communication Model—designed to strike a sound balance between actual hazard and public outrage—as well as the CDC’s six core principles of crisis and emergency risk communication (CERC), strategies for countering infodemics, fact-checking, and the rapid mitigation of rumors.

Aleksey Chistodarskiy—a senior communications expert with 20 years of experience who has advised UNDP leadership on reputation risk management and strategic positioning—will address reputation management amid compounding crises. Drawing on hands-on UNDP experience, he will explore communication during concurrent emergencies: why standard public health messaging fails during economic downturns or declining institutional trust, how to engage skeptical audiences, and how to effectively recalibrate communication channels.

Her session will focus on building robust partnerships between newsrooms and press services, emphasizing sustainable, constructive, and mutually beneficial cooperation between journalists and communications specialists.

The session will conclude with an interactive workshop on intersectoral coordination in emergencies. In an open discussion format, participants will identify actionable approaches to synchronizing official communications across public health, veterinary, and environmental sectors, ensuring consistency and reinforcing public trust during critical moments.
